Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev won his maiden championship for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a former world number one, has endured a challenging season, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-term coach his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's first title since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface since spring of the previous year.

The win also indicates he has secured twenty-one titles at 21 different events.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children together, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his last six title deciders, including in that event previously this season.

The player's retrieving approach and regular outbursts on court had caused commentators to question if his ability to perform at the top level was concluded.

Yet the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an better serve.

He recovered from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his first professional victory, gained dominance to force a third set.

The opponent rescued four initial opportunities in a close third set before Medvedev won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
